Auxiliary route of the Interstate Highway System Georgia State Routes
|
Interstate 516 (I-516) is a 6.49-mile (10.44-km) long auxiliary Interstate Highway near the southeastern, coastal Georgia city of Savannah as a spur route of Interstate 16. I-516 was formerly signed State Route 21 and even early as State Route 26 Loop. State Route 421 was added as a hidden reference route numbering in 2000 to make sure that all interstates in Georgia had 400 series reference numbers. It spurs both northeast and southwest of I-16, extending from the West DeRenne Avenue/Montgomery Street intersection in Savannah to the split of US 80, SR 25 and SR 26 in Garden City. It is the only auxiliary branch of I-16.
The entire route is in Savannah, Chatham County.
